Please help us keep Untoxicated going!!!
Untoxicated has now grown to around 10,000 members across our Meet Up groups and our closed peer support group. Many of our members are proactively choosing to reduce their alcohol intake. We also have hospital, rehabs and alcohol counsellors referring to us.
We have a valued team of around 15 people - as hosts, our Board and our operations – and we are all volunteers.
Since 2019 we have featured on the 730 Report, TEDx, ABC Radio, Triple M, Business Insider, Channel 10, Hello Sunday Morning and more.
We hear stories daily from people in the Untox community who have reached 10 days or 100 days or 12 months sober for the first time ever in their lives. We love hearing how their relationships with themselves, their family, their health, their mental health, their finances and their work have improved.
This is why we do what we do. It’s our raison d’etre.
If you’re not familiar with Untoxicated, the benefits of our community are many:
We provide weekly fun, varied and interesting options for people who want to connect with others socially without alcohol – whether face to face or through online peer support
We normalise socialising sober
We show positive models of life without alcohol
We reduce stigma around problem drinking and empower those who want to make healthier choices that are right for them
We are a warm, welcoming, supportive and non-judgemental grassroots community who ‘get it’ (wherever people are at)
We build people’s capacity to get and stay sober.
And, we do all of this for free.
People who attend our events pay a small booking fee of $2.50 but other than that all we do - our peer support group, organising events (including weekends away), our social channels, our newsletter, our videos, blogs and all our content is free.
Why we need your help:
We know that to keep going as we are and to grow nationally, we will require funding. It has been three years of incredibly hard slog to keep Untoxicated going and to secure charity status - essentially working two full time jobs.
We have costs to keep our doors open, even as a solely volunteer organisation.
Thankfully, through all the sleepless nights, I have had an even larger conviction deep in my bones that what we are doing at Untoxicated is very much needed and simply has to grow across Australia. This is evident in the stories I hear every single day from our members.
We need your help to enable us to grow so that we have Untoxicated groups all over Australia.
This will mean more people able to connect with others who understand, the ability to be able to have friends who don’t drink and for people to have support, belonging and some laughs along the way too on what can be an often arduous road.
We want to grow. We love, love, love what we do for the community and in changing social norms. We know the need is there and we want to do it for and with many more Australians.
