Cultivate Calm Off the Mat – Becoming Untoxicated

It was a delight to chat with Monica from Cultivate Calm Yoga about all things sobriety, regulating your nervous system and how to know if you have a drinking problem (I didn’t answer this one very well actually. In a nutshell, if you are wondering if you do, you probably do).

  • We talk about what is problem drinking and grey area drinking.

  • Why having support is the key to staying sober.

  • Why being sober is becoming cool.

  • Advice for people thinking of quitting drinking.

  • Alcohol and mental health.

  • Trauma, the nervous system and addiction.

  • Slowing down, feeling our feelings and learning to be with ourselves.

I started going to Monica’s yoga studio in East Brisbane (QLD) a couple of years ago and it’s been an absolute godsend. Monica is one of these rare people who actually walks the talk. She was in IT and in a state of burn out when she decided to take a different path and set up her studio. The studio is very community minded, non-judgey/competitive and dedicated to all things around nurturing your relationship with self and your body, quietening the mind and being gentle with yourself.

That’s me on the mat lol.

Give them a follow as their socials have great tips on cultivating calm and god knows we all need it in these crazy times.
